Betsy DeVos Has a Lot to Say About Our Country’s Education System

Most people in America know about Betsy DeVos because of her recent appointment as The Secretary of Education in President Donald Trump’s Presidential Cabinet. Betsy has a long background in regard to helping to reshape some of America’s educational systems as she has been a champion of the charter school movement as an alternative to some of our inner city and rural school systems that have fallen behind.Mrs. DeVos and her husband, Dick DeVos, former President of The Amway Corporation have both been active in politics and in school choice ever since their own children were in school in the early grades. They saw immediately the inequity that some families had from an economic situation where some students were not able to attend the better schools because of finances, so they began to set up scholarship and grant programs for disadvantaged students.

Betsy has said many times that children should not be held captive by the zip code where they live as far as what schools they have to attend, when there are far better options available. Many of our inner city and rural school systems are underfunded because the tax base has left, yet these school systems still have the same plant, equipment and teacher’s salaries that have to be paid.School choice and voucher systems that allow students to pick schools that they want to attend rather than those that they have to attend allow students and parents better choices for education. These are reasons that Mrs. DeVos and her husband have been instrumental in various 501(c)(3) charities like The American Federation For Children (AFC) and the Alliance For School ChoiceWhen asked what the results have been in her and her husband’s activities in the school situation prior to her being named as Secretary of Education, Betsy points to the successes that they have had in Florida.

A tax-credit scholarship program was set up which has allowed certain areas in Florida to have been the beneficiary of some of the longest successes in school choice in the nation. There are currently over 50,000 students attending the schools of their choice there and both students and parents are very positive about it.A coordinated effort of integration of section 527 capabilities and 501(c)(3) elements has resulted in keeping the programs alive and organized. The system absolutely works and when that happens you don’t need to spend a lot of time and effort in promoting the cause because the cause is real and people like it. There have also been very positive advances in Indiana and Louisiana too. These results are the reason that Donald Trump named Betsy DeVos as the Secretary of Education. When good legislation is brought forward and the people understand what is at stake, they respond. The goal is to help parents and children find schools that meet their educational needs, and it is not about politics at all.

The Traveling Vineyard:Having Fun While Selling Wine

The Traveling Vineyard is a direct to the consumer wine selling company founded by marketing expert Rick Libby in 2001. The company’s business model is simple. Wine guides arrange wine tasting events in people’s homes.

During the events guests are given the opportunity to taste five different types of wines from The Traveling Vineyard’s exclusive collection. They are also taught how to pair the right wine with meals. At the end of the evening they are given the opportunity to purchase the wines they like and register to become a wine guide themselves. Wine guides get 35% of the money guests spend on wine at the event. Usually that’s between $100 and $150.

Anyone can become a wine guide with The Traveling Vineyard. You do not have to be a wine expert. The company provides all the training and resources necessary to transform wine lovers into wine guides. Since the company’s first wine tasting event in Tampa, Florida in 2001, events have been held throughout the country. These days there are wine guides from coast to coast hosting fun, relaxing wine tasting events, introducing people to fine wines from The Traveling Vineyard and making a decent living while enjoying what they do.

The Traveling Vineyard offers people of any age or sex the opportunity to turn their love of wine and hosting into a lucrative, low-stress career. Getting people to come together to have fun and drink wine is easy. The gatherings are held in the homes of friends and acquaintances and the primary goal is to expose people to the wines The Traveling Vineyard has to offer. The experience feels like a vineyard tour where you are a given information about wines and samples to try. It is such a fun experience it doesn’t feel like work at all.
